Report a Fake Telegram Account Impersonating You

A separate account, bot, or channel is using your name, photo, or @username to fool the people who trust you. Your real account is not compromised — this is impersonation, not a takeover. Here is how to report it through Telegram's own channels, gather the right evidence, and warn the contacts being targeted.

See the report stepsImpersonation vs. a hacked account
Official channels only
Every step routes through Telegram's own apps, the Report button, and its abuse email.
Owner-only
We help you report impersonation of you — never touch anyone else's account.
No access, nothing to retain
We never log into Telegram for you, so there are no credentials to store.
Evidence, not volume
Telegram weighs proof of impersonation, not the number of reports filed.
Reporting is free
The in-app Report flow and abuse email cost nothing — beware anyone charging to 'delete' an account.

Verify every path yourself: the Report button lives on the profile's ⋮ menu, and Telegram's abuse address is [email protected] — no third party is needed.

How it works

  1. 1
Confirm it's impersonation, not your own hacked account
On your real account open Settings > Devices / Active Sessions — if every session is yours, your account is intact and this is a separate fake.
⏱ 2–5 minutes · Your real account lists only your own devices; the fake is a different account entirely.
  2. 2
    Capture evidence before it disappears
Screenshot the fake profile, its @username, its t.me link, the impersonating messages, and any requests for money or login codes sent to your contacts.
⏱ 10–20 minutes · Dated screenshots plus the exact t.me/… link, ready to attach.
  3. 3
Report the fake profile from inside Telegram
Open the fake profile → ⋮ menu (or tap the name) → Report → Fake Account / Impersonation → pick the reason and add a short comment.
    ⏱ 3–5 minutes · Telegram shows a 'Thanks, we'll review' confirmation.
  4. 4
For a fake channel, group, or bot
Open it → title → Report → Fake Account / Scam; forward a sample post as an example to Telegram's scam-reporting channel (@notoscam).
⏱ 3–5 minutes · In-app report accepted; the scam example is forwarded.
  5. 5
Escalate by email if it's ongoing or a brand
Email [email protected] with the t.me link, screenshots, and proof the identity is yours (matching real profile, official site, trademark).
⏱ 15–30 minutes to send · An automated acknowledgement, followed by a human review.
  6. 6
    Warn your contacts and audience
Post from your real account or channel that a fake exists, share your genuine @username, and remind people you never ask for codes or money.
⏱ 10–15 minutes · Your audience can tell the real you from the impostor.
  7. 7
Respond to any follow-up and re-report if needed
Telegram may reply asking for more detail; answer from the same account or email — and re-report if the fake returns under a new @username.
⏱ hours to several days for a decision · The fake account or channel is limited or removed, or Telegram requests more evidence.

There is no time limit on reporting impersonation — you can report a fake account whenever you find it, and re-report if it reappears under a new @username. Review times vary and Telegram never guarantees a specific outcome or removal date.

Fake 'takedown' services vs. how impersonation reporting actually works

⚑ "Send us the link and we'll instantly delete any Telegram account."
Only Telegram's moderators can remove an account, and only after reviewing genuine abuse. No third party can delete accounts on demand — anyone promising it is selling a scam.
⚑ "Give us the impostor's login code or phone and we'll hijack the fake to shut it down."
That is account takeover — illegal and impossible without their login code. We never access anyone's account, and asking for a login code IS the exact phishing method we warn you about.
⚑ "Pay us and we'll mass-report the account with 500 bots to force a ban."
Coordinated mass-reporting is abuse of Telegram's system, not a valid report; it can get YOUR account flagged, and Telegram weighs evidence, not report volume.
⚑ "We have an insider or backdoor at Telegram for guaranteed removals."
There is no backdoor and no paid fast-lane. Telegram's only channels are the in-app Report button and [email protected] — both free to everyone.
⚑ "We'll uncover the impostor's real name and address for you."
Deanonymizing another user is not something we — or any legitimate service — do. Report the account and let Telegram, and the police if a crime occurred, handle identity.

✓ You report the fake yourself through Telegram's in-app Report → Fake Account flow — free and evidence-based.

✓ Telegram's moderators decide the outcome after reviewing your evidence; the timing and result are theirs, not ours to promise.

✓ You stay in control: we guide you to official channels and never touch your account or anyone else's.

✓ Warning your own contacts and audience is often the fastest protection while Telegram reviews the report.

✓ If money was lost to the impostor, you also file with your bank and local police — reporting the account is one lane, not the whole remedy.

We do

  • ✓ Walk you through Telegram's official in-app Report → Fake Account flow, step by step.
  • ✓ Help you assemble evidence that a fake is posing as you.
  • ✓ Point you to [email protected] and the right escalation channels.
  • ✓ Help you tell impersonation apart from an actual account takeover.
  • ✓ Help you draft a clear warning to your own contacts and audience.
  • ✓ Explain how to report a fake channel, group, or bot — not just a profile.

We never

  • ✗ Ask for, intercept, or use anyone's Telegram login code, SMS, or 2FA — ever.
  • ✗ Access, hijack, or 'take down' the impostor's account for you.
  • ✗ Run mass-reports, bot-brigades, or fake-report campaigns.
  • ✗ Monitor, read, or surveil anyone's private chats.
  • ✗ Guarantee removal, timelines, or that a specific account will be deleted.
  • ✗ Deanonymize or reveal the impostor's real-world identity.

We only help you report genuine, evidence-based impersonation of yourself or your own brand, through Telegram's official channels. Everything else — takeover, mass-reporting, surveillance, deanonymization — is off the table, no exceptions.

FAQ

How do I report a fake Telegram account impersonating me?
Open the fake profile, tap the ⋮ menu (or the profile name), choose Report, then select Fake Account / Impersonation, pick the reason, and add a short comment saying it is posing as you. For a fake channel or group, open it, tap the title, choose Report, then Fake Account / Scam. Note the exact t.me link and attach dated screenshots. Telegram's moderators review the evidence and decide.
Can you get the fake account deleted for me, or take it down instantly?
No. Only Telegram's moderation team can remove an account, and only after reviewing genuine abuse — there is no instant takedown, no backdoor, and no paid fast-lane. We are owner-only: we help you file an evidence-based report of impersonation of yourself through official channels, and we never access the impostor's account, request anyone's login code, or run mass-reports. Anyone promising guaranteed deletion is running a scam.
How is impersonation different from my account being hacked?
Impersonation is a SEPARATE fake account using your name, photo, or @username — your real account is untouched. A hack is someone logged into YOUR account. Check Settings > Devices / Active Sessions: if you see only your own sessions, you're being impersonated, not hacked. If you spot a session you don't recognize, that's a takeover — end it, then set Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification and note the recovery-email hint shown on the cloud-password screen.
What evidence should I gather before reporting?
Screenshot the fake profile, its @username and t.me link, the impersonating messages, any requests for money or login codes sent to your contacts, and the dates. If it's a brand, keep proof you own or represent the identity — trademark, official site, or your matching real account. Evidence is what Telegram weighs, not how many people report.
Should I warn my contacts, and what should I say?
Yes — it's often the fastest protection while Telegram reviews. Post from your real account or channel that a fake exists, share your genuine @username, and remind people you will never ask for a login code, a one-time SMS code, or money. Impostors rely on your name being trusted; a clear notice removes that leverage.
The impostor is asking my friends for their Telegram login codes — what now?
Tell everyone plainly: never send a Telegram login code to anyone, including someone posing as you — that code is the exact method used to hijack accounts, delivered first to an existing in-app session, then by SMS, then by call. Report the fake account, have any friend who shared a code open Settings > Devices to end unknown sessions and turn on Two-Step Verification at once, and report the scam messages via the in-app Report button.

Report the fake, protect the real you
