The @handle lane · Owner-only recovery

Recover a Lost Telegram Username (@handle)

Your @username lives on your account, not on its own — so getting the handle back usually means getting the account back first. Here's the official path to reclaim a username you lost when the account lapsed, was reset, or the name got dropped, plus the honest limit when someone else legitimately holds it now.

See the reclaim stepsRead the honest limits
Owner-only
We help you reclaim a handle on your own account or brand — nothing else.
Official channels only
Everything routes through the Telegram apps, t.me, @SpamBot and [email protected].
We never ask for your code
A one-time login code is the takeover key — no legitimate helper ever requests it.
No bypass tools
No 2FA 'remover', OTP interceptor or session hijack — those are scams, not recovery.
No data retention
We don't collect or store your number, login code, or cloud password.
Honest limits
If a handle is legitimately held or already sold, we tell you plainly.

Every method on this page maps to a Telegram-documented feature you can verify inside the official app.

How it works

  1. 1
    Locate the handle
Open t.me/your-handle in any browser to see whether it still resolves to you, points to a stranger, or reads 'username not found'.
⏱ 1–2 minutes · The link loads your old profile, someone else's profile, or a 'not found' screen.
  2. 2
    Request a login code
On the phone number that owns the account, ask Telegram for a login code — it lands in an existing in-app session first, then SMS, then a voice call.
⏱ Seconds to a few minutes · A 5-digit code arrives inside another Telegram session, by SMS, or by call.
  3. 3
    Clear Two-Step Verification
If a cloud password (2FA) is set, enter it; if you've forgotten it, tap 'Forgot password?' and use the recovery-email hint shown on that screen.
⏱ Seconds to an email round-trip · You land in your chat list — the account, and its handle, are yours again.
  4. 4
    Re-set the username
Open Settings > Edit Profile > Username and re-enter or confirm the @handle on your profile.
⏱ 1–2 minutes · t.me/your-handle resolves back to your profile.
  5. 5
Escalate only if the account is gone
If the account was terminated or deleted, write [email protected], or raise a brand/impersonation claim through Telegram's official process — never by touching the account that now holds the handle.
⏱ A few days for a reply · An official response, or confirmation the handle has re-entered the public pool.

There's no clock on trying to recover your own account. But a released @username re-enters the public pool and can be registered — or bought via Fragment — by anyone. Once another party legitimately holds it, we cannot pull it back for you.

Dead ends and the way forward

Owner-only. These shortcuts don't exist — here's the real path for each.

✗ Buy a 'username unlocker' or 'handle recovery' toolNo tool can detach a @username from an account — the handle lives on the account, and access to the account is the only lever.
→ Recover the account itself (login code → cloud password), then re-set the username in Settings > Edit Profile > Username.
✗ Ask us to take the @handle off whoever holds it nowThat's an active account we don't own — removing a live username from it is hijacking, and we refuse it outright.
→ If it's your trademark or an impersonation of you, use Telegram's official report and appeal process — the only legitimate route for a contested handle.
✗ Have the login code for that account sent to meRequesting or forwarding someone's login code is the exact method behind account takeovers — we never ask for a code, and neither should anyone else.
→ Only recover your OWN account, on your OWN number, where the code is meant to reach you.
✗ Bypass the cloud password (2FA) to get back inNo 2FA bypass or 'remover' exists; anything claiming one is a scam or a route to seizing an account.
→ Use the recovery-email hint on the cloud-password screen. With no email, the only path is the account-reset request — which deletes the account and its cloud chats.
✗ Reverse a Fragment sale and claw the username backUsernames are tradable assets now; a completed transfer is legitimate ownership, not a theft to undo.
→ Acquire the handle openly on Fragment, or pursue a trademark claim through Telegram's official channels if you hold the rights.
✗ Instantly recover a handle from a deleted or self-destructed accountA released username returns to the public pool and no one can guarantee getting it back — it may already be registered by someone else.
→ Monitor t.me/the-handle for availability and register it the moment it frees, or file a brand dispute through Telegram's official process.

Start reclaiming your @handle in 4 steps

1
Check the handle
Open t.me/your-handle in a browser to see who it points to now.
2
Get a login code
Request a code on your number — in-app session first, then SMS, then call.
3
Ready your 2FA
Have your cloud password, or recovery-email access, on hand.
4
Re-set the username
Once inside, confirm the @handle under Settings > Edit Profile > Username.

Have ready: access to the phone number on the account, any device still logged in, and your Two-Step Verification cloud password or its recovery email.

FAQ

Where does a Telegram username actually live?
A @username is attached to an account (or to a channel or group), not stored on its own. Whoever controls the account controls the handle. That's why reclaiming a lost username almost always means recovering the underlying account first, then re-setting the name under Settings > Edit Profile > Username. If the account is deleted, the handle is released back to the public pool after a period.
My account still works but the @username vanished — what happened?
Two common causes: it was changed or cleared under Settings (by you, or by an admin on a shared account), or the handle was freed at some point and someone else registered it. Open t.me/your-handle to see where it points now. If your profile simply shows no username, re-enter it in Settings > Edit Profile > Username. If it resolves to a stranger, it has been taken and the owner-only limits on this page apply.
Can you get my old @handle back from the account that holds it now?
No. If a username sits on an active account we don't own, taking it off that account is hijacking, and we refuse it flat out. This site is owner-only: we help you reclaim a handle tied to your own account or brand, never by touching someone else's account. A genuinely contested handle — your trademark, or an impersonation of you — goes through Telegram's official report and appeal process only. And we will never obtain, intercept, or ask for anyone's login code to make it happen.
What happens to my @handle if my account is deleted or reset?
If you can't pass Two-Step Verification and have no recovery email, the only route back is the account-reset request — and after its 7-day countdown it deletes the account together with its cloud chats. The handle is then released to the public pool and may become available again later, but there's no guarantee you'll be the one to re-register it, and nothing recovers the deleted chats.
Is it true Telegram usernames can be bought and sold?
Yes. Through Fragment, Telegram's official auction platform on the TON blockchain, usernames became tradable, collectible assets. That means a lapsed handle can end up legitimately owned by a buyer. If yours was released and sold, the honest path is to acquire it openly on Fragment or, if you hold the trademark, raise a rights claim through Telegram's official channels — not to try to undo the sale.
Do you ever need my login code to help?
Never. The one-time login code — delivered to your existing Telegram session first, then by SMS, then by call — is the single key to your account, and 'send me the code' is exactly how takeovers happen. No legitimate helper, and no Telegram staffer, will ask you for it. Every step here you perform yourself, inside the official app, on your own number.

Reclaim what's yours — the right way

A lost @username almost always comes back the moment you recover the account it's attached to. Start with the account, pass your login code and cloud password on your own number, then re-set the handle under Settings > Edit Profile > Username. If the account is truly gone, or the handle now legitimately belongs to someone else, we'll point you to Telegram's official review — never to a dead-end 'tool' or a takeover.
